The following illustrates YAPI installation on Windows 7 and shows you prompts and screens you might encounter. A Typical YAPI installation takes five minutes.
When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. These prompts can vary a bit depending on the versions of the operating system. Always choose Yes , Ok, Accept, or Next to proceed.
If your computer has User Account Control (UAC) enabled you may see various UACprompts that looks like the following
Always click Yes on a UAC prompt
YAPI installer will automatically install several prerequisites unless they are already present on the target computer. Those prerequisites are
.NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime modules
Microsoft Primary Interoperability Assemblies
Windows Installer 3.1
Assuming that YAPI setup files are in a shared folder on one of your office computers (typically the server), navigate to that folder, double click on the icon namedRunThis2InstallYAPI.
This will start the installation of YAPI onto your computer.
If you see the following warning, click Run
Click Install to install Microsoft Primary Interoperability Assemblies (PIA)
Installation continues. It typically takes less than a minute to complete this step.
YAPI Setup Wizard starts. Click Next.
Read the license agreement, click I agree, then Next
YAPI is being installed.Select the drive you want to install YAPI runtime files on (typically C)
Finally, click Close to finish installation.
When installation finishes, you will have the following YAPI shortcut installed on the Desktop
Double click YAPI shortcut.
If your PC has Windows Firewall enabled you will see the following Windows Security Alert. It is extremely important to click Allow access button.
Click Ok button
The following message box will inform you that an upgrade is available. Click Yesbutton.
YAPI will download upgrade bundle and will restart automatically. It usually takes a minute or two to finish this process. Occasionally, depending on the speed of your network and Internet it may take a bit more time. Please be patient!
YAPI will shutdown and automatically start again.
If you’ve defined YAPI shared layout already, you may see the following message. ClickYes.
The following prompt will request you to define the name of your computer location. Select from the list or simply type. Please note that no special characters are allowed – only alphanumeric characters and space.
Finally, right-click on a gray area and select Store Layout option.
YAPI is failing to locate YAPI Service.
This problem typically occurs as a result of Windows Firewall blocking YAPI. Most likely you forgot to allow YAPI through the Firewall in a step above.
Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
In the left pane, click Advanced setting
Select Inbound Rules and find yapiruntime.exe in the right pane.
Remove all yapiruntime.exe rules: right-click the rule and select delete.
YAPI requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed on the same computer. Most likely you have Acrobat Reader installed already. If not or if current Acrobat Ready is quite old install latest Acrobat.
Launch your browser, and go to http://get.adobe.com/reader
On the first page, un-check Optional offer then click Install now.
When installation finishes, find Adobe Reader icon on the Desktop.
Launch Adobe Reader.
When you see Adobe Reader License page click Accept button.
Close Adobe Reader.
